WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior linebacker and Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection
Nolan Hartsel (Lodi/Northwestern) has been named the OAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Hartsel earned the honor following a record-setting performance in BW's 52–20 non-conference victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) last Saturday in Berea.
The junior standout anchored the Yellow Jackets' defense, posting a career-high 19 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss totaling six yards. His dominant play helped limit the Fightin' Engineers to just 198 yards of total offense.
This season,
Hartsel leads the team and ranks third in the OAC with a career-best 52 tackles. He has also recorded three tackles for loss, along with his first career interception and pass breakup.
Over his career,
Hartsel has appeared in 26 games, amassing 117 tackles, including 14 for a loss of 62 yards, along with one interception, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
BW is back in action on Saturday, October 25 when it hosts a Hall of Fame, Homecoming and OAC game against Marietta College on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium at 2 p.m.
