Today's Contest
Today marks BW's Hall of Fame and Homecoming festivities as the Yellow Jackets host Marietta College in the seventh game of the 2025 season, fifth Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest, and fourth home game of the year. BW enters the matchup following a 52-20 non-conference victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) last Saturday in Berea, while Marietta looks to rebound after a 35-31 OAC loss to Muskingum University last weekend in Marietta.
The Series
BW and Marietta are meeting for 48th time on the gridiron. The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series by a margin of 38-9. BW has won 14 of the last 18 meetings. The Pioneers won last year's meeting by a final score of 47-7. The series began in 1974 with the Yellow Jackets defeating the Pioneers, 73-0, in Berea
BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his ninth season at BW and has a record of 54-24 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 45-22. He is 121-43 in his 16th overall season. Hilvert is 3-4 all-time versus Marietta.
Marietta Head Coach Tom Kaufman
Kaufman is in his first season at Marietta and has a record of 3-3 and an Ohio Athletic Conference mark of 2-3. He is meeting the Yellow Jackets for the first time.

BW scored seven points on 98 yards passing and 94 yards rushing for 192 total yards. Marietta scored 47 points on 363 yards passing and 128 yards rushing for 491 total yards.
Defensive Statement
Junior Academic All-OAC standout
Nolan Hartsel (Lodi/Northwestern) delivered a dominant performance against Rose-Hulman last Saturday, posting a career-high 19 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss. His disruptive play anchored the defense and earned him his first career OAC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week six of the season, BW scored 52 points on 237 yards rushing and 232 yards passing for 469 total yards. Rose-Hulman scored 20 points on 98 yards passing and 96 yards rushing for 194 total yards.
BW Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback
Charlie Bubonics (Solon) has completed 108-of-171 passes for 1261 yards with 17 touchdowns, including a career-high six last week vs. Rose-Hulman, and one interception.
Bubonics is tied for the league lead in touchdowns, fourth in in passing efficiency and fifth in yards. Sophomore running back
George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) leads the OAC with 801 yards and second touchdowns with eight.

Tim Conwell (Avon) leads the aerial assault with 28 catches for 368 yards and an OAC second best six touchdowns. Defensively, junior Academic All-OAC linebacker

Devontae Jackson (Cleveland/John Hay) is tied for second in the conference with two interceptions, including one he returned for an 83-yard touchdown.
Scouting the Pioneers
In week six of the season, Marietta scored 31 points on 322 yards passing and 87 yards rushing for 409 total yards. Muskingum scored 35 points on 390 yards passing and 109 yards rushing for 499 total yards.
Marietta Leaders
Offensively, junior quarterback Antwon Johnson has completed 50-of-96 passes for 553 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions. Senior All-OAC running back Vante' Hodges has rushed for 650 yards on 81 carries with eight touchdowns. Hodges is tied for the OAC lead in touchdowns and ranks fourth in yards. Senior wide receiver John Sierputowski has caught 23 passes for 395 yards with two touchdowns. Defensively, Senior All-American linebacker Harley Hopkins is second in the OAC with 56 tackles and sacks with three.
Lighting Up the Stat Sheet
BW ranks in the Top 25 nationally (out of 242 Division III teams) in six key categories: first in third-down percentage, seventh in rushing offense, 12th in scoring offense, 12th in first downs per game, 18th in total offense and 23rd in rushing defense.
Hall of Fame Inductees
BW will welcome six new members into its Athletics Alumni Hall of Fame during a ceremony on October 24. Their induction brings the total number of honorees to 392 distinguished Yellow Jackets. The newest inductees will also be recognized between the first and second quarters of the game.
