Today's Contest
Today is the eighth game of the 2025 season, sixth Ohio Athletic Conference contest, and fourth road game of the year. BW comes into the game after posting its first shutout since the 2023 season when it defeated Marietta College by a final score of 38-0 in a Hall of Fame and Homecoming affair last Saturday in Berea. Muskingum enters the contest after falling to Heidelberg University by a final score of 29-14 last Saturday in New Concord.
The Series
BW and Muskingum are meeting for the 68th time on the gridiron. The Yellow Jackets hold a 52-13-2 all-time series lead, including winning 17 of the last 19 contests. In the last 19 meetings, BW has outscored the Fighting Muskies by a margin of 620-293. The series began in 1917 when Muskingum defeated the Yellow Jackets, 25-7, in New Concord.
BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his ninth season at BW and has a record of 55-24 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 46-22. He is 122-43 in his 16th overall season. Hilvert is 8-0 all-time against Muskingum.
Muskingum Head Coach Matt Nardo
Nardo is in his first season at Muskingum and has a record of 3-3 and an OAC mark of 3-2. He is 12-25 in his fourth overall season. Nardo is facing BW for the first time.

BW scored 54 points on 292 yards passing and 219 yards rushing for 511 total yards. Muskingum scored 14 points on 201 yards passing and 58 yards rushing for 256 total yards.
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week seven of the season, BW scored 38 points on 192 yards rushing and 133 yards passing for 325 total yards. Marietta was held scoreless on 89 yards passing and 80 yards rushing for 169 total yards.

Senior Academic All-OAC linebacker
Isaac DiTirro (Rootstown) had a pivotal fourth quarter performance as he blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone for his first career blocked kick and touchdown to earn his first career OAC Special Teams Player of the Week honor.
BW Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback
Charlie Bubonics (Solon) has completed 120-of-195 passes for 1394 yards with 18 touchdowns and one interception.
Bubonics is tied for the league lead in touchdowns, fourth in in passing efficiency and fifth in yards. Sophomore running back
George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) leads the OAC with 919 yards and second touchdowns with nine.

Tim Conwell (Avon) has 31 catches for 410 yards and an OAC second best six touchdowns. Defensively,
Nolan Hartsel (Lodi/Northwestern) leads the team and is third in the OAC with a career-best 60 tackles. Junior defensive back
TJ Gibbons (Willoughby/Lake Catholic) is tied for the OAC lead with three interceptions.
Scouting the Fighting Muskies
In week seven of the season, Muskingum scored 14 points on 210 yards rushing and 168 yards passing for 378 total yards. Heidelberg scored 29 points on 234 yards passing and 142 yards rushing for 376 total yards.
Muskingum Leaders
Offensively, senior All-OAC quarterback Garrett Gurney has completed 138-of-217 passes for 1,797 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Gurney leads the league in completions and is second in yards and passing efficiency and fourth in touchdowns. Sophomore running back Riley Woodie has rushed for an OAC sixth best 611 yards on league fourth best 117 carries with two touchdowns. Sophomore wide out John Christopher Gore has caught a league leading 46 passes for a conference second best 584 yards with OAC fifth best five touchdowns. Junior Academic All-OAC wide receiver Cade Searls leads the league with seven touchdowns. Defensively, senior All-OAC linebacker Conner Gurney leads the squad and is ninth in the league with 47 tackles.
