Today's Contest
Today is the fifth game of the 2025 season, the fourth Ohio Athletic Conference and second road game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it travels to Westerville to take on the Otterbein University Cardinals. BW was idle last week. In their last game on September 27, the Yellow Jackets suffered their first loss of the season as they fell to No. 2 nationally ranked the University of Mount Union by a final score of 42-23. Otterbein fell to No. 2 Mount Union by a final score of 62-7 last Saturday in Alliance.

The Series
BW and Otterbein are meeting for the 56th time on the gridiron. The Yellow Jackets hold a 42-12-1 all-time series, including winning the past six meetings. In the last six meetings, the BW has outscored the Cardinals by a margin of 214-62. The series began in 1925 with the Yellow Jackets defeating the Cardinals, 7-0, in Berea.

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his ninth season at BW and has a record of 52-24 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 44-22. He is 119-43 in his 16th overall season. Hilvert is 6-1 all-time versus Otterbein.

Marquis is in his first season at Otterbein and his first year as a head coach. He has a record of 0-4 and an OAC mark of 0-3.

BW scored 36 points on 245 yards passing and 159 yards rushing for 404 total yards. Otterbein scored seven points on 129 yards rushing and 72 yards passing for 201 total yards.

In week four of the season, BW scored 23 points on 183 yards rushing and 142 yards passing for 325 total yards. Mount Union scored 42 points on 263 yards passing and 232 yards rushing for 495 total yards.

Offensively, sophomore quarterback
Charlie Bubonics (Solon) has completed 75-of-122 passes for 832 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception.
Bubonics ranks fourth passing efficiency and fifth in the conference in yards and touchdowns. Sophomore running back
George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) leads the ground game and is second in the OAC with 565 yards

Tim Conwell (Avon) leads the aerial assault with 21 catches for 273 yards with four touchdowns. Defensively, junior Academic All-OAC linebacker
Nolan Hartsel (Lodi/Northwestern) leads the team and is seventh in the OAC with 29 tackles. Senior linebacker
Devontae Jackson (Cleveland/John Hay) is tied for first in the conference with two interceptions, including one he returned for an 83-yard touchdown.

Scouting the Cardinals
In week four of the season, Otterbein scored seven points on 148 yards passing and 142 yards rushing for 290 total yards. Mount Union scored 62 points on 286 yards rushing and 163 yards passing for 449 total yards.

Otterbein Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Brayden Bayles has completed 59-of-93 passes for 568 yards with two touchdowns. Bayles also leads the rushing attack as he has carried the ball 37 times for 194 yards with three touchdowns. Senior Academic All-OAC wide out Zane Dunning has caught 18 passes for 178 yards with one touchdown. Defensively, sophomore defensive back Damar Anderson leads the squad with 30 tackles, one quarterback sack, one interception and one fumble recovery.

Bold & Gold and Hall of Fame Game
BW will host its Bold and Gold and Hall of Fame Game on October 25. The 2:00 p.m. game against Marietta College will feature the Homecoming Festivities as well as the induction and introduction of the 2025 Class of the Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame.

One For the Record Books
For the first time in a long time, BW will play its second non-conference opponent on October 18. Traditionally, the opening game has served as the sole out-of-league matchup.
So when It's Saturday in Berea returns to Finnie Stadium, the Yellow Jackets will host the first ever meeting against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology from Indiana.
