BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team dropped their Ohio Athletic Conference home opener against 24th-ranked Ohio Northern University by a final score of 3-2 at George Finnie Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (5-7-1, 1-1 OAC) were trailing 3-0 at the end of the first half to the Polar Bears (7-0-4, 2-0 OAC) and scored two goals in the second half to cut the lead to 3-2 but it was not enough to mount a comeback

BW Leaders 

• Senior defender Matt Aspinall (Twinsburg) and sophomore defender Brady Brown (Muskegon, Mich./Fruitport) led the way by scoring the goals for the Brown and Gold; it's the fifth time they've scored multiple goals in a contest this season

• Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Mathew Skladany (Cleveland/St. Edward) and junior forward Nate Usrey (Brecksville/Broadview Heights) came in on the assists to the Apsinall and Brown goals

• Junior midfielder Cimi Halilaj (Westlake) led the way for the Yellow Jackets with three shots taken and one on goal

• Junior goalkeeper Seth Warrick (Avon) had two saves

Ohio Northern Leaders 

• Forward Chase Robinson, defender Tanner Locke, and midfielder Gage Foster led the way by each scoring one goal

• Defenders Enzo Bordogna and Carson McGovern along with Midfielder Colin Gottron led the way with one assist 

• Goalkeeper Carson Zurmehly had two saves at net to help the Polar Bear defense

First Half (Ohio Northern 3-1)

• 6:40 - Locke scored the first goal of the game for the Polar Bears, which was assisted by Bordogna 

• 16:32 - Robinson scored the second goal of the game for Ohio Northern to give them a 2-0 lead, and Gottron came in on the assist

• 26:18 - Foster connected low-left to push ONU's lead to three with under 19 minutes to play in the first half

• 44:45 - Brown connected with Usrey coming in on the assist seconds before the half concluded to narrow BW's deficit to two

Second Half (Ohio Northern 3-2)

• 77:24 - Aspinall scored low left to cut the deficit to 3-2 with over 13 minutes to play in the game and Skladany came in on the assist
