Today's Contest
Today is the final regular season game of the 2025 season as Baldwin Wallace hosts Heidelberg in an OAC and Seniors' Day game.  The Yellow Jackets come into the game after falling to Ohio Northern University by a final score of 30-28 last Saturday in Ada.  Heidelberg enters the game after defeating Wilmington College by a final score of 34-31 in Tiffin.
 
The Series
BW has faced Heidelberg more times on the gridiron than any other opponent as the teams have played 77 games.  The Yellow Jackets hold a 53-24 all-time series lead. The series began in 1897 when BW won by a final score of 10-0 in Berea.
 
BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his ninth season at BW and has a record of 56-25 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 47-23. He is 123-44 in his 16th overall season. Hilvert is 7-0 all-time versus Heidelberg.
 
Heidelberg Head Coach Scott Donaldson
Donaldson is in his 10th season at Heidelberg and has an overall record of 48-27 and an OAC mark of 42-26.  He is 1-7 vs. Baldwin Wallace as the Yellow Jackets and Student Princes did not play in the COVID-19 shortened season of 2021 spring.
 
Last Game vs. Heidelberg -- Nov. 16, 2024
BW scored all 14 of its points in the first half on 174 yards passing and 137 yards rushing for 311 total yards.  Heidelberg scored 10 points, including the final three points of the game early in the fourth quarter, on 180 yards passing and 80 yards rushing for 260 total yards.
 
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week nine of the season, BW scored 28 points on 158 yards passing and 95 yards rushing for a season-low 253 total yards.  Ohio Northern scored 30 points, including the game-winning field goal with 6:48 remaining,
 on 194 yards rushing and 138 yards passing and for 332 total yards.
 
BW Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) has completed 151-of-249 passes for 1,789 yards with 21 touchdowns and three interceptions.  Bubonics is tied second in the league in touchdowns, third in passing efficiency and fifth in yards. Sophomore running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) is second in the OAC with 1,065 yards and second touchdowns with 11. Linberger is third in carries with 170. Senior All-OAC wideout Tim Conwell (Avon) has a career-high 38 catches for an OAC sixth best and career-high 584 yards and leads the league with a career-best tying eight touchdowns. Defensively, Nolan Hartsel (Lodi/Northwestern) leads the OAC with a career-best 86 tackles, including a career-high tying 19 last week. Junior defensive back TJ Gibbons (Willoughby/Lake Catholic) is tied for the OAC lead with three interceptions.
 
Scouting the Student Princes
In week nine of the season, Heidelberg scored 34 points, including hitting the game winning field goal with seven remaining, on 282 yards rushing and 151 yards passing for 434 total yards. Wilmington scored 31 points on 358 yards passing and 99 yards rushing for 457 total yards.
 
Heidelberg Leaders
Offensively, senior quarterback Ty Poorman has completed 122-of-229 passes for a league third best 1,659 yards with eight interceptions. Junior running back Drew Miller leads the OAC with 1,191 yards on a league second best 217 carries with a conference third best 10 touchdowns.  Junior wide receiver Dmitry Peters has caught 28 passes for a league ninth best 558 yards with three touchdowns. Defensively, junior linebacker Mason Villarreal has recorded an OAC ninth best 63 tackles.
 
Lighting Up the Stat Sheet
BW ranks in the Top 30 nationally (out of 242 Division III teams) in six key categories: third in third-down percentage, 16th in first downs per game, 17th in rushing offense, 24th in passing defense, 26th in scoring offense, and 29th in kickoff return average.|

Senior Tribute
BW will honor and recognize its 24 senior football student-athletes and coaches with a celebration prior to the start of the game.  At halftime, the University will honor its four senior cheerleaders and 21 senior marching band members
 
Opendorse Bowl Series
The Opendorse Bowl Series features two games played on Saturday, November 22, showcasing the highest-ranked teams that did not qualify for the NCAA Division III Playoffs. The participating programs represent four conferences: the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the North Coast Athletic Conference, the Ohio Athletic Conference, and the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
