Men's Soccer Ends Season in OAC Tournament by Falling to Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team fell on the road to the University of Mount Union in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals by a score of 4-2 at Kehres Stadium to conclude their season.

The Yellow Jackets started the game off well, with sophomore midfielder Robbie Rochford (Fairlawn/Copley) scoring a goal to make it a 1-0 BW lead. It remained that way for most of the first half until the Purple Raiders scored twice right before the half and two times early in the second half to eliminate the Brown and Gold from postseason play. Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Midfielder Owen Reyes (North Olmsted) scored the other goal of the game with 16 minutes to play. 

BW Leaders

  • Reyes and Rochford each scored goals in the team's first OAC Tournament game in 11 years

  • Freshman forward Gavin Nixon (Irvine, Calif/Orange Lutheran) and freshman forward Omar Alhalabi (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark) each had one assist to lead the team in this category and help the offense

  • Nixon led the team with six shots taken and three on goal

  • Diego Teran (Exton, Pa./Henderson) made the start as the goalkeeper, and he had four saves throughout the contest

Mount Union Leaders

  • Forward Alex Depperschmidt and midfielder Braeden Kennedy each had two goals to lead the Purple Raiders

  • Depperschmidt and forward Amir Spratt had an assist in the second half to lead the team in this respective category

  • Spratt led the team by taking four shots; two of them on goal

  • Kennedy and Depperschmidt also took two shots on goal in addition to Pratt

  • Goalkeeper Enio Hoxha had seven saves and was at the net in all 90 minutes in the Purple Raiders' victory over the Yellow Jackets

First Half (Mount Union 2-1)

  • 4:28 - Rochford scored the first goal of the game, connecting from the middle-left side to give the Brown and Gold a 1-0 lead; Nixon came in on the assist

  • 38:25 - After leading for a majority of the half, Depperschmidt scored his first goal of the game to tie things up at one

  • 44:47 - Just seconds before halftime, Depperschmidt connected from the top center to give the Purple Raiders their first lead of the game, and they took a 2-1 lead heading into the break

Second Half (Mount Union 4-2)

  • 48:34 - Kennedy scored his first goal of the game very early in the second half, top-right to extend Mount Union's lead to 3-1; Depperschmidt tallied the first assist of the game 

  • 51:02 - Kennedy quickly became the second player to add a multi-goal game, scoring from the bottom-right, which was assisted by Spratt

  • 73:50 - Reyes added an additional goal, which cut the Purple Raider lead to 4-2; assisted by Alhalabi, this was all the Yellow Jackets could handle as Mount Union held them the rest of the way

The Yellow Jackets' season is over. They will return to action at the end of August 2026 to kick off the 2026 season.
