ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team came up short against ninth-ranked University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup, 87-68, inside Timken Gymnasium for their third consecutive defeat.
BW Leaders (1-8)
- Junior guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow-Munroe Falls) led the Brown and Gold in points and assists with 14 and six, respectively
- Sophomore guard Braylan McClardy (Brooklyn/Cuyahoga Heights) led the Yellow Jackets with eight rebounds while adding nine points
- Sophomore guard Brock Beech (Medina) notched 13 points
Mount Union Leaders (10-0)
- Sophomore guard Chance Casenhiser led UMU with a game-high 19 points
- Junior guard Kevin Hamilton dished out a game-high seven assists and scored 13 points
- Senior forward Caleb Laurich grabbed a game-high nine rebounds
First Half (Mount Union 59-32)
- Junior forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) put the first points on the board with a layup early on
- The teams traded baskets to open the half and a stepback jumper by McClardy tied the game at 22 at the 11:09 mark
- Mount Union responded with a 32-4 run, stretching their lead to 28
- Senior guard Miles Reynolds (Cleveland/St. Edward) paced BW in scoring with eight first-half points
Second Half (Mount Union 87-68)
- Junior forward Isaac Richardson (Avon Lake) scored the first basket of the half with a three-pointer
- The Brown and Gold came out on fire in the second half and cut the UMU lead to 18 points with 12:46 to play, powered by seven points from Baskerville IV
- McClardy three at 8:10 capped off a 9-2 BW run, trimming the Purple Raider lead to 13
- Mount Union reestablished their lead and closed out the game with a win
- Baskerville IV led the team with nine points in the second half
