Men’s Indoor Track and Field Takes First Place at Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team hosted the first home meet of the season, the Dr. William Taraschke Team Challenge, on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW placed first out of five participating teams with 149 points.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

  • Junior Rodney Washington Jr. (Warrensville Heights / Benedictine) won the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.49. Washington broke the meet record previously set at 6.58 by Kendall Shadie (Mount Union) in 2020.
  • Junior Kaedan Faggs (Marion / Harding) won the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.00.
  • Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Dillon Hach (Medina) won the one-mile run in a time of 4:18.71.
  • Sophomore All-OAC sprinter Wesley Noeth (Powell / Olentangy Liberty) won the 400-meter dash in a time of 51.18.
  • Freshman Will Prato (Massillon / Jackson) won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:57.32. Prato broke the meet record previously set at 1:57.70 by James Jeninga (Calvin [Mich.]) in 2019.
Field event highlights:
  • Faggs won the long jump with a distance of 7.03 meters. He broke the meet record previously set at 6.43 meters by Jack Rohal (Otterbein) in 2019.
  • Senior All-American high jumper Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) won his third consecutive high jump with a height of 2.09 meters. Pfeiffer broke the meet record previously set at 2.00 meters by Richard Annorat (Albion [Mich.]) in 2019.
  • Sophomore All-OAC triple jumper Drexton Friscone (Columbia Station / Columbia) won the triple jump with a mark of 13.71 meters.
  • Senior Thomas Hickman (Oxford / Talawanda) won the weight throw with a distance of 16.08 meters.
  • Senior Mason Kiesel (New London / South Central) won the shot put with a mark of 15.17 meters.
  • Sophomore Connor Radojcsics (Mount Gilead / Northmor) won the pole vault with a distance of 4.25 meters.
On the relay side:
  • In the 4x400 relay squad, HachNoeth, Prato, and freshman Oliver Veliquette (Louisville, Ky. / Louisville Collegiate School) broke the meet record after winning in a time of 3:29.51.
BW is back in action on Friday, Feb. 7 for the Dan Kinsey Invite (Oberlin College) and the Fourth Jud Logan Light Giver Open (Ashland University).
