Mincey Wins First OAC Title, Women’s Swimming and Diving Second on Day Two of OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – Freshman diver Makenna Mincey (Brunswick/Magnificat) won her first career Ohio Athletic Conference Championship as the Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team stands in second place after the second day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by the Yellow Jackets inside the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

BW is second of six teams with 421.5 points.  Defending champions and crosstown rival John University leads with 674 points.

Individuals
  • Mincey earned her first career All-OAC as she won the 1-meter with an NCAA B cut 461.5 points
  • Freshman diver Emmalie Mitzel (Massillon/Jackson) earned her first career All-OAC accolade as she was the runner-up in the 1-meter with an NCAA B cut and career-best 438.65 points
  • Sophomore All-OAC diver Ella Steen (Madison/Riverside) earned her third career All-OAC honor in the 1-meter with an NCAA B cut and career-best 422.95 points
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC stroker Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 59.09
  • Freshman stroker Brooke Radcliffe (North Canton/Hoover) finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 1:01.65
  • Junior stroker Mallory Upcraft (Oswego, N.Y.) placed sixth in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:50.31
  • Sophomore All-OAC freestyler Melina Roberts (Westlake) placed sixth in the 100-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 1:00.45
  • Sophomore All-OAC diver Isabel Hershkovitz (Strongsville) placed sixth in the 1-meter with 314.55 points
  • Sophomore freestyler Ashley Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 1:03.27
  • Freshman freestyler Amelia Wands (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) placed seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 1:11.22
  • Sophomore stroker Abby Marquardt (Pickerington/Central) was ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 1:11.93
  • Junior Academic All-OAC freestyler Ariel Lisy (Strongsville) was 10th in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:04.06
  • Freshman freestyler Kate Harrington (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) was 11th in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:05.02
  • Sophomore stroker Kaela Galion (Valley City/Buckeye) was 13th in the 400-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 5:22.73
  • Junior stroker Ellen Fox (Willard) was 14th in the 400-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 6:07.98
  • Freshman stroker Addie Darding (Columbus/Upper Arlington) was 14th in the 100-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 1:12.48
  • Freshman freestyler Annalise Bolton (Berea/Berea-Midpark) was 15th in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:09.66
  • Sophomore Zoey Hicks (Perry) was 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:19.21
Relays
  • The 200-yard medley unit of Radcliffe, Wands, Dondorfer and Harrington earned All-OAC honors as they were runner-up's in a time of 1:49.73
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, February 15 when they host the third and final day of the OAC Championships.  Prelims are slated to begin at 10 a.m. with finals to be contested at 5:30 p.m.
