No. 9 Women's Basketball Beats Mount Union in Home Regular Season Finale

BEREA, Ohio - The No. 9 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace women's basketball team extended their win streak to a program record 22 games as they defeated the Mount Union Purple Raiders in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup by a final score of 63-47 in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center. 

BW Leaders (23-1, 17-0 OAC)

  • Senior All-OAC forward Bella Vaillant (Perrysburg) recorded seven points, one steal, an assist and a game-high 14 rebounds
  • Sophomore guard Maddie Ebbert (Lake Orion, Mich.) totaled a career-high 11 points, two assists and a steal 
  • Sophomore guard Laura McCoy (Newton Falls/Garrettsville Garfield) had nine points, three assists and a rebound
  • Sophomore guard Kayla Jones (Grove City) totaled eight points, three assists, a block and a steal 
  • Senior All-OAC guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) contributed nine points, seven rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal
  • Sophomore guard Ava Wilkerson (West Mansfield/Marysville) totaled 10 points and two rebounds

Mount Union Leaders (12-12, 17-10 OAC)

  • Senior guard Dae Dae Nash totaled eight points and six rebounds 
  • Freshman forward Chelsea Evanich had nine points, one assist and one block 
  • Sophomore guard Tess Conroy had seven points and two rebounds
  • Sophomore guard Abby Muckleroy totaled seven points, one rebound and one assist 

1st Quarter (14-12 BW)

  • The Jackets had 11 rebounds 
  • Vaillant went 2-2 from the free throw line and tallied one assist 

2nd Quarter (27-21 BW)

  • Ebbert had four points and one assist
  • The Jackets outscored the Purple Raiders 13-9

3rd Quarter (42-30 BW)

  • BW started the quarter on a 5-0 run 
  • Irwin, Jones, and Wilkerson all recorded an assist

4th Quarter (63-47 BW)

  • The Jackets went perfect from the free-throw line sinking six of six 
  • Jones scored three points and added two assists 

The Yellow Jackets will travel to Marietta for their final regular season contest in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against the Marietta College Pioneers on Saturday, February 22 at Ban Johnson Arena.
