BEREA, Ohio - The No. 7 nationally ranked and top-seeded Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team advances to the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championship Game with a 80-72 victory against fourth-seeded Capital University in the OAC Tournament Semifinals in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center.
BW (25-1) will now host second-seeded Ohio Northern University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center as they look to claim the OAC tournament title. Capital (20-7) ends its season and now waits to see if it made the NCAA Division III Tournament field.
BW Leaders
- Junior Academic All-OAC guard/forward Alyssa Miller (New Philadelphia) totaled six points, two steals, and one clutch block
- Sophomore guard Laura McCoy (Newton Falls/Garrettsville Garfield) had 12 points, one block, one assist and two rebounds
- Sophomore guard Kayla Jones (Grove City) had seven points, a team-high three steals, three assists, and two rebounds
- Senior All-OAC guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) totaled a team-high 22 points, one steal, two assists, and seven rebounds
- Sophomore guard Ava Wilkerson (West Mansfield/Marysville) recorded 12 points, one assist, and one rebound
- Senior All-OAC guard Emily Irwin (Pickerington/Pataskala Watkins Memorial) had 15 points, one block, three assists, and three rebounds
Capital Leaders
- Senior guard Bri O'Connor had 14 points, two assists, three steals, and five rebounds
- Junior forward Samaree Perkins recorded a double-double of 32 points and 12 rebounds
- Senior guard Laney Murphy totaled 15 points and four rebounds
- Freshman guard Kya Jordan totaled six points, three assists, and one rebound
1st Quarter (14-26 Capital)
- Ressler got the Jackets on the board scoring BW's first basket of the game and led the team with five points
- Jones, Ressler, and McCoy all recorded an assist
2nd Quarter (46-44 BW)
- BW scored 32 points in the quarter to take the lead
- McCoy had four points
3rd Quarter (57-56 BW)
- Irwin and Wilkerson both went 2-2 from the free-throw line
- Ressler and Miller each recorded a steal
4th Quarter (80-72 BW)
- Ressler recorded eight points
- The Jackets outscored Capital 23-16 to seal the victory
