ADA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team stands in fifth place after the first day of the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Ohio Northern University.
BW is fifth of nine teams with 26.33 points. University of Mount Union is first with 83.33 points.
The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
- Senior All-OAC sprinter Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) earned All-OAC honors in the 400-meter dash after placing third in a time of 58.20.
- Senior All-American distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) earned All-OAC honors in the 500-meter dash after finishing second in a time of 1:18.00.
Field events highlighted:
- Senior All-OAC thrower Emily Torres (Berea / Berea-Midpark) placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.36 meters.
On the relay side:
- In the distance medley relay crew, junior All-OAC distance runner Katie Plecko (Rootstown), senior sprinter/hurdler Kenni Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights), sophomore distance runner Rylee Barno (Columbus / Bexley), and sophomore distance runner Abbie George (Ebensburg, Pa. / Central Cambria) finished sixth in a time of 13:29.00.
BW is back in action on Saturday, March 1 for the second and final day of the OAC Indoor Championships. Saturday's action is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the ONU Sports Center.
