HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team closed out its spring break trip as it fell to Salve Regina (R.I.) University in a non-conference match by a final score of 7-0 at the Bluffton High School Tennis Courts.
Salve Regina (3-6) won all three doubles matches and six singles matches over BW (1-10) This season, the NCAA Division III tennis has adopted a new policy as doubles matches now account for one team point and not three points like in previous years.
Doubles
- Sophomores Colleen Andersen (Ashtabula/St. John) and Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) fell at first doubles by a score of 7-5
- Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Emma Trost (Norwalk) and sophomore Saraphina Groh (Cuyahoga Falls) fell at second doubles by a score of 6-1
- Junior Gillian Brown (Brunswick) and sophomore Samantha Thielen (Toledo/Sylvania Northview) fell at third doubles by a score of 6-2
Singles
- Andersen fell at first singles by a scores 3-2 before forfeiting
- Groh fell at second singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0
- Trost fell at third singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-0
- Brown fell at fourth singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-1
- Koutouras fell at fifth singles by a scores 6-4, 4-6 and 11-9
- Thielen fell at sixth singles by identical scores of 6-2
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, March 21 when they travel to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania for a non-conference match against Geneva College on the Blackhawk and Brady's Run Tennis Courts at 6 p.m.
