GRANVILLE, Ohio - The No. 21 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University baseball team defeated Adrian (Mich.) College by a final score of 8-4 in the Granville Tournament hosted by No. 6 nationally ranked Denison University on Big Red Field.
Scoring Summary
- Bottom 1st - Senior All-OAC first baseman Mally Kilbane (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) hit an infield single to tie the game at one
- Bottom 1st - Sophomore designated hitter Colin West (Westborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) gave the Jackets the lead with an RBI single
- Bottom 1st - Sophomore third baseman Carson Petrecca (Willowick/Eastlake North) brought in another BW run with a sac fly to center
- Bottom 1st - Senior right fielder Justin Carinci (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering) laid down a bunt to score West on the squeeze play
- Bottom 1st - Sophomore catcher Mason Fixx (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) doubled through the gap to add to the lead
- Bottom 1st - Junior All-OAC center fielder Dennis Ritlinger-Nirider (Grove City) hit his first career homer to cap off a seven-run inning
- Bottom 2nd - West reached on an error but a run was able to come around and score for the Brown and Gold
At the Plate
- Junior All-OAC shortstop Sean Kolenich (Parma/St. Edward) went a career-best 4-for-4 with three singles and a double while scoring two runs and is now hitting a team-best .462 on the season
- Kilbane went 3-for-4 at the plate with his 14th RBI of the season
- Ritlinger-Nirider and West drove in two RBI apiece making it back-to-back multi-RBI games for each
On the Mound
- Senior right-hander Patrick Straub (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) improves to 2-1 on the season after a seven-inning outing where he tallied five strikeouts and and allowed three earned runs on seven hits and three walks
- Senior All-OAC right-hander Vince Dolcemaschio (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) was near perfect in the final two innings with two strikeouts, one walk, and one hit
The Yellow Jackets are back in action Sunday, March 16 as they conclude the Granville Tournament by taking on the host No. 6 nationally ranked Denison University at 2:30 p.m. on Big Red Field.
