BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team defeated Trine (Ind.) University in this season's Breast Cancer Awareness Match and a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League match by a final score of 3-2 in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
BW Leaders (16-9, 4-1 MCVL)
- Sophomore outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville/Westerville Central) moves to fifth on the BW leaderboard for most kills in a season after recording his fourth 20+ kill game and his third in the last four games by notching 20 with seven digs
- Senior All-MCVL middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) was also in double figures with 11 kills and a team-high four block assists
- Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Ted Hofmeister (Powell/Saint Charles) finished with 15 kills and a game-high 16 digs against his former team
- Junior Academic All-MCVL libero Aiden Kim (Bothell, Wash./North Creek) anchored the defense with an additional 11 digs
- Junior Academic All-MCVL middle hitter Colby Whiteside (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) was the fourth Jacket with 10 kills on only 15 attacks and added three blocks
- Senior setters Carson Junker (Massillon/Jackson) and Evan Herbst (Hamburg, N.Y.) combined for 55 assists with 36 and 19, respectively
Trine Leaders (12-6, 2-1 MCVL)
- Senior right-side hitter Kevin Boncaro led the Thunder with 16 kills
- Senior setter Ryan McDonald recorded 30 assists
- Senior right-side hitter Ethan McLenon and sophomore middle hitter Karl Both each had five blocks
The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, March 22 as they host Calvin (Mich.) University in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League match at 1 p.m. in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
