Baseball Tops Bluffton in Non-Conference Matchup

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team defeated Bluffton University by a final score of 11-2 in a non-conference game at Fisher Field.

Scoring Plays

  • Bottom 1st - Senior All-OAC left fielder Joey Marousek (North Royalton) hit a two-run triple to give BW the early lead
  • Bottom 1st - Senior Academic All-OAC third baseman Noah English (Perrysburg) added an insurance run with an RBI single
  • Bottom 2nd - Sophomore third baseman Colin West (Westborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) busted the game wide open with a two-out grand slam
  • Bottom 3rd - Junior All-OAC center fielder Dennis Ritlinger-Nirider (Grove City) singled through the left side to drive in another Jacket run
  • Bottom 4th - Marousek grounded out to short but it was enough to bring in his third RBI of the day
  • Bottom 6th - Sophomore catcher Mason Fixx (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) picked up his third hit of the day with a two-run double

At the Plate

  • Fixx finished a team-best 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored
  • Marousek was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 with three RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base
  • West went 2-for-3 including his first collegiate homer with a game-high four RBI and also scored three runs
  • Ritlinger-Nirider also notched two hits

On the Mound

  • Senior All-OAC right-hander Dylan Snyder (Stow/Archbishop Hoban) went four innings in today's start with four strikeouts and allowed two runs on three hits and four walks
  • Senior Academic All-OAC right-hander Kade Swisher (Berea/Berea-Midpark) threw two innings where he struck out three and allowed only three hits on his way to his first win of the season
  • Freshman right-hander Brady Richman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Heritage) went three up-three down with two strikeouts in the seventh while sophomore right-hander Will Henderlich (Madison) recorded his first-career strikeout and struck out the side in the eighth
  • Freshman left-hander Tyler Vogel (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and senior right-hander Mason Decker (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark) combined the ninth to close the game for the Brown and Gold
