LEXINGTON, S.C. - The No. 16 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University baseball team opened the its annual spring break trip at the Spartan Southern Classic as it defeated Swarthmore (Pa.) College in a walk-off win by a final score of 9-8 at Lexington County Stadium.

- Bottom 1st - Senior right fielder Justin Carinci (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering) scored on a Garnet failed pickoff attempt
- Bottom 1st - Junior All-OAC shortstop Sean Kolenich (Parma/St. Edward) hit a two-run single to put BW up by one
- Bottom 1st - Junior Academic All-OAC second baseman Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) delivered another RBI single for the Jackets
- Bottom 2nd - Senior Academic All-OAC designated hitter Brandon Gelpi (Monroeville, Pa./Central Catholic) doubled to left to score two and to regain the lead
- Bottom 7th - Senior Academic All-OAC catcher Eric Coode (Painesville/Mentor) hit a sac fly to get one run back for the Brown and Gold
- Bottom 8th - Senior All-OAC first baseman Mally Kilbane (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) tied the game with an RBI single to right
- Bottom 11th - Coode delivered the gamewinner with a single up the middle
At the Plate
- Kilbane went 2-for-2 with two walks, an RBI, and a run scored
- Sophomore third baseman Colin West (Westborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) tallied two hits
- Gelpi, Kolenich, and Coode each knocked in a pair
On the Mound
- Junior All-OAC right-hander Tyler Walker (Fairlawn/Copley) got the start and went two innings allowing four earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one
- Sophomore right-hander Matt Moscarino (Strongsville/Padua Franciscan) pitched an inning where he had one strikeout and allowed two runs on one hit and four walks
- Junior Academic All-OAC left-hander Brit Kostura (Tequesta, Fla./Jupiter Christian School) struck out three through six innings where he allowed only one run on five hits
- Senior All-OAC right-hander Vince Dolcemaschio (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) picked up the win after pitching a perfect final two innings
The Yellow Jackets are back in action Sunday, March 9 as they continue their spring break trip by taking on Case Western Reserve University at 10 a.m. at Lexington County Stadium.
