ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The No. 17 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team completed the non-conference portion of its schedule at the Nazareth Invitational hosted by No. 19 nationally ranked Nazareth (N.Y.) University where they defeated Penn State University-Altoona, and fell to No. 6 nationally ranked Juniata (Pa.) College and the host Nazareth in Kidera Gymnasium.
vs. Penn State-Altoona (10-10)
- Sophomore Academic All-MCVL right-side hitter Jacob Esteves (Wickliffe/St. Edward) led the way with 10 kills on 15 attacks as he also added four blocks and three aces
- Sophomore Academic All-MCVL middle hitter Bobby Mayberry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) recorded a career-high five blocks and served up two aces
- Senior Academic All-MCVL setter Carson Junker (Massillon/Jackson) was the game's leader in assists and digs with 28 and eight, respectively
- Sophomore outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville/Westerville Central) finished with nine kills and seven digs
- Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Michael Beard (Hilliard/Darby) tallied five kills
- Junior Academic All-MCVL middle hitter Josh Steinitz (Towson, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) put up four kills and two block assists
vs. No. 6 Juniata (22-2)
- Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Ted Hofmeister (Powell/Saint Charles) led the team with seven kills and six digs
- Senior All-MCVL middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) recorded a game-high five blocks to reach 50 on the year and tallied two aces
- Latham added six kills to his total on the weekend
- Junior Academic All-MCVL middle hitter Colby Whiteside (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and Esteves each had four kills
- Junker assisted 15 times while senior Academic All-MCVL setter Evan Herbst (Hamburg, N.Y.) totaled five assists
at No. 19 Nazareth (14-9)
- Latham had a weekend-high 21 kills and assisted on three blocks
- Whiteside led both teams with eight blocks and added six kills
- Junker tallied 41 assists, four kills, four blocks, and four digs
- Freshman libero David Abercrombie (Maricopa, Ariz.) led the team with 15 digs while Latham added 13 digs
- Herbst picked up 12 more assists to his weekend
- Hofmeister recorded 11 kills and tallied nine digs
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, March 14 as they host a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League match against Wittenberg University at 7 p.m. in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
