Relay Team Breaks Record; Women's Indoor Track and Field Competes at Polar Bear Qualifier

ADA, Ohio – Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team competed at the Polar Bear Qualifier (hosted by Ohio Northern University) inside of the ONU Sports Center. Each student-athlete competed in order to obtain a qualifying mark to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship meet next week.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference sprinter Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) won the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash in a time of 7.69 and 25.09, respectively.
  • Senior All-American distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:13.86.
Field events highlights:
  • Sophomore All-OAC jumper Rylee Gorrell (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City Area) won the high jump with a mark of 1.64 meters.
On the relay side:
  • In the 4x400 relay crew, Collier, junior All-OAC sprinter Morgan Aloi (Sylvania / Sylvania Northview), junior All-OAC distance runner Katie Plecko (Rootstown), and Murphy won in a time of 4:00.20. Their finish broke a 27 year-old indoor record previously set at 4:02.60.
BW will now wait and see which athletes qualify for the 2025 NCAA Indoor National Championships, hosted Friday and Saturday, March 14-15 by Nazareth (N.Y.) College in Rochester, New York.
