Baseball Falls to Washington & Jefferson (Pa.)

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team was defeated by Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College by a final score of 14-6 in a non-conference game at Fisher Field.

Scoring Plays

  • Bottom 3rd - Senior right fielder Justin Carinci (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering) put BW on the board after scoring on a passed ball
  • Bottom 7th - Senior All-OAC first baseman Mally Kilbane (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) doubled to right to drive in a run
  • Bottom 8th - Junior All-OAC outfielder Dennis Ritlinger-Nirider (Grove City) had a pinch-hit double to start an eighth inning rally
  • Bottom 8th - Carinci drove in a run with a triple off the fence for his fourth hit of the day
  • Bottom 8th - Junior Academic All-OAC shortstop Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) picked up an RBI with a two-out single
  • Bottom 8th - Kilbane cut the lead in half with another RBI on a single to center 

At the Plate

  • Carinci scored three runs and had a perfect day at the plate going 4-for-4 with two singles, a double, a triple, two stolen bases, and an RBI
  • Kilbane led the team with two RBI on two hits

On the Mound

  • Freshman right-hander Trip Thaler (Kirtland) got his first career start where he pitched three innings and held the Presidents to one earned run on four hits and one walk
  • Junior right-hander Ian Anderson (Broadview Heights/Trinity) made his collegiate debut where he had a game-high three strikeouts and allowed two runs on two hits through 1.1 innings of work 
  • Freshman right-hander Brady Richman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Heritage) pitched two innings of scoreless relief where he gave up only two hits and one walk with two strikeouts
