ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team defeated the University Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference match up by a final score of 6-1 on the Whitehall Courts.
BW (14-2, 1-0 OAC) secured victories in all three doubles matches and five singles matches. Mount Union (2-14, 0-2 OAC) claimed one singles victory.
Doubles
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) and junior Academic All-OAC Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) won at first doubles by a score of 7-6 and 7-5 in the tiebreaker
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) and freshman Tyler Fenton (Williamstown, W.Va.) won at second doubles by a score of 6-0
- Freshman Vinny Cannata (Aurora) and junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Jacob Weingart (Tiffin/Columbian) won at third doubles by a score of 6-1
Singles
- Horvath won at first singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-3
- McGee won at second singles by scores of 2-6, 6-2 and 6-0
- Cannata fell at third singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2
- Harders won at fourth singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-0
- Freshman Will Westberry (Niles, Mich./St. Joseph's {Ind.}) won at fifth singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-4
- Weingart won at sixth singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-3
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, April 18 when they travel to Westerville for an OAC match against Otterbein University on the Otterbein Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.
