WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team dropped a highly contested Ohio Athletic Conference match to Otterbein University by a final score of 4-3 on the Otterbein Tennis Courts.
BW (14-3, 1-1 OAC) won two doubles matches and two singles matches. Otterbein (12-8, 2-0 OAC) won one doubles matches and four singles matches.
Doubles
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) and junior Academic All-OAC Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) won at first doubles by a score 7-6 and 7- 6in tiebreaker
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) and freshman Tyler Fenton (Williamstown, W.Va.) fell at second doubles by a score of 6-2
- Freshman Vinny Cannata (Aurora) and junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Jacob Weingart (Tiffin/Columbian) won at third doubles by a score of 6-3
Singles
- Horvath fell at first singles by scores of 4-6, 6-1 and 6-3
- McGee fell at second singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-3
- Cannata won at third singles by scores of 6-4 and 7-5
- Harders fell at fourth singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-2
- Freshman Will Westberry (Niles, Mich./St. Joseph's {Ind.}) won at fifth singles by scores of 7-5 and 6-2
- Weingart fell at sixth singles by scores of 5-7, 7-5 and 7-6 (7-3)
The Yellow Jackets, who were scheduled to play No. 3 nationally ranked Denison University on April 19 was postponed and will be played on a date to be determined, are back in action on Tuesday, April 22 when they host a rescheduled OAC match against Ohio Northern University on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m.
