Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Otterbein in OAC Action

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -
The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team split an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with Otterbein University at Fishbaugh Field. The Yellow Jackets dropped game one 12-7 before bouncing back to take the nightcap 9-4.
 
Game 1
Scoring Plays
  • Top 3rd - Senior All-OAC first baseman Mally Kilbane (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) blasted a two-run homer to give BW its first lead of the day
  • Top 3rd - Junior All-OAC center fielder Dennis Ritlinger-Nirider (Grove City) doubled to center field to drive in two unearned runs, extending the Yellow Jackets' lead to 4-2
  • Top 5th - Kilbane delivered an RBI single to right center, scoring senior right fielder Justin Carinci (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering)
  • Top 5th - Ritlinger-Nirider singled up the middle to bring home Kilbane, pushing BW's advantage to 6-4
  • Top 6th - Kilbane drew a bases-loaded walk to plate sophomore Academic All-OAC second baseman Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) for the Yellow Jackets' final run
On the Mound
  • Senior All-OAC right-hander Vince Dolcemaschio (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) went four innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits while striking out two
  • Sophomore right-hander Matt Moscarino (Strongsville/Padua Franciscan) suffered the loss in relief, surrendering eight runs (one earned) over four innings of work

  • Top 1st - Carinci laid down a bunt single, advanced to second on a throwing error, and later scored on a miscue by Otterbein's first baseman
  • Top 1st - Junior All-OAC third baseman Sean Kolenich (Parma/St. Edward) delivered an RBI single to give BW an early 3-0 advantage
  • Top 2nd - Senior All-OAC left fielder Joey Marousek (North Royalton) scored on an RBI single by Ritlinger-Nirider to extend the lead
  • Top 3rd - Marousek drove in Mason Fixx (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) with a single to left field
  • Top 3rd - Carinci reached on an error allowing Marousek to score, pushing the BW advantage to 6-0
  • Top 8th - Kilbane launched his second homer of the day, a solo shot to left center
  • Top 9th - Sophomore catcher Eric Coode (Painesville/Mentor) delivered a sacrifice fly to score junior infielder Jake Druschel (Tampa, Fla./George Steinbrenner)
  • Top 9th - Ritlinger-Nirider doubled to left field to plate Carinci for the final run 
On the Mound
  • Junior Academic All-OAC right-hander Brit Kostura (Tequesta, Fla./Jupiter Christian School) worked 4.1 innings, giving up three earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts
  • Junior Academic All-OAC right-hander Kade Swisher (Berea/Berea-Midpark) earned his third win of the season with 2.2 innings of relief, allowing one unearned run on four hits
  • Sophomore right-hander Patrick Straub (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) picked up his first save of the season, throwing two scoreless innings to close out the victory
