Men’s Tennis Wins Seniors’ Day Match; Defeats John Carroll in Final OAC Meeting

BEREA, Ohio –
The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team won its Seniors' Day match as it defeated crosstown John Carroll University in the final Ohio Athletic Conference meeting by a final score of 5-2 on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.

BW (15-4, 2-2 OAC) won two doubles matches and claimed four singles victories. John Carroll (3-9, 1-2 OAC) won one doubles match and two singles matches in the competitive conference battle.
 
Doubles
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Matt McGee (Ottawa Hills) and junior Academic All-OAC Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) fell at first doubles by a score of 7-6 and 8-6 in the tiebreaker
  • Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) and freshman Tyler Fenton (Williamstown, W. Va.) won at second doubles by a score of 7-6 and 9-7 in the tiebreaker
  • Freshman Vinny Cannata (Auroa) and junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Jacob Weingart (Tiffin/Columbian) won at third doubles by a score of 6-3 
Singles
  • Horvath fell at first singles by scores of 7-5, 3-6,1-0 and 10-4 in the tiebreaker
  • McGee won at second singles by scores of 5-7, 6-3 and 6-1
  • Cannata won at third singles by scores of 4-6, 6-4 and 6-3
  • Harders fell at fourth singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-3
  • Freshman Will Westberry (Niles, Mich./St. Joseph's {Ind.}) won at fifth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-2
  • Weingart won at sixth singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-1 
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday April 29 when they will enter the OAC Tournament as the three-seed and will play at the second seed in a semifinal match at 3:30 p.m.
