WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team leads the way in first place after day one of the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Wilmington College.
BW stands in first place with 60 points.
The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
- Freshman All-OAC sprinter/hurdler Aidan Simmons (Frederick, Md. / Walkersville) placed third in the 100-meter dash prelims in a time of 10.93 and qualifies for the finals on day two. Simmons also competed in the 200-meter dash prelims and qualifies for the finals after finishing fourth in a time of 22.16.
Field event highlights:
- Junior All-American sprinter/jumper Kaedan Faggs (Marion / Harding) earned All-OAC honors after winning the long jump with a distance of 7.28 meters.
- Senior All-OAC thrower Thomas Hickman (Oxford / Talawanda) earned All-OAC honors after winning the discus throw with a mark of 48.85 meters.
- Senior All-American high jumper Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) earned All-OAC honors after winning the high jump with a distance of 2.10 meters.
On the relay side:
- In the 4x800 relay squad, freshman All-OAC distance runner Will Prato (Massillon / Jackson), freshman distance runner Caden Buccier (Cleveland / Cuyahoga Heights), sophomore All-OAC distance runner Dillon Hach (Medina), and junior All-OAC distance runner Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station / Columbia) earned All-OAC honors after placing second in a time of 7:43.16.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, May 2 for the second and final day of the OAC Outdoor Championships. Friday's action is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. inside of Williams Stadium.
