Gorrell Earns All-OAC Honors; Women's Outdoor Track and Field Sits in Fifth Place After Day One of OAC Championships

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team sits in fifth place after day one of the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Wilmington College.

BW sits in fifth place with 22.25 points. Ohio Northern University is first with 90 points.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 
  • Freshman All-OAC sprinter/hurdler Jameire Honzu (Warren / Harding) placed first in the 110-meter hurdles prelims in a time of 14.94 and qualifies for the finals on day two.
  • Senior All-OAC sprinter Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) finished second in the 100-meter dash prelims and 400-meter dash prelims in a time of 12.29 and 57.54, respectively. Collier also placed third in the 200-meter dash prelims in a time of 25.18. She qualifies for the finals for all of these events on day two.
Field event highlights:
  • Sophomore All-OAC jumper Rylee Gorrell (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City Area) earned All-OAC honors after finishing second in the high jump with a distance of 1.62 meters.
BW is back in action on Friday, May 2 for the second and final day of the OAC Outdoor Championships. Friday's action is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. inside of Williams Stadium.
