WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team finished in fourth place after the second and final day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Wilmington College.
BW was fourth of 10 teams with 86.25 points. Ohio Northern University won the OAC Outdoor Championships with 213 points.
During tonight's podium ceremony, senior All-American distance runner
Hope Murphy (Mogadore) was recognized as the Most Outstanding Distance Runner.
The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
- Murphy earned All-OAC honors after winning the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:34.97. She also earned All-OAC honors in the 800-meter run after placing second in a time of 2:14.40.
- Senior All-OAC sprinter Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) earned All-OAC honors after winning the 400-meter dash in a time of 56.06.
- Freshman All-OAC sprinter/hurdler Jameire Honzu (Warren / Harding) earned All-OAC honors after winning the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.68.
On the relay side:
- In the 4x100 relay crew, freshman All-OAC sprinter/hurdler Kenae Moore (Cypress, Texas / Bridgeland), Collier, junior sprinter Jessica Klonowski (Parma / Holy Name), and senior All-OAC sprinter/hurdler Kenni Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) earned All-OAC honors after finishing third in a time of 47.65.
- In the 4x400 relay squad, junior All-OAC distance runner Katie Plecko (Rootstown), freshman sprinter Amaya Crowder (Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. / Alamogordo), Murphy, and Moore earned All-OAC honors after placing third in a time of 4:00.12.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Thursday, May 8 as they host day one (throws only) of the two-day Harrison Dillard Twilight. Thursday's action is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds Throws Facility.
