ALLIANCE, Ohio - The third-seeded Baldwin Wallace University baseball team defeated second-seeded Ohio Northern University in the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament hosted by the University of Mount Union by a final score of 7-3 at Rafeld-Rogers Field.
Scoring Plays
- Top 3rd - Senior All-OAC left fielder Joey Marousek (North Royalton) doubled down the right field line to drive in the Yellow Jackets' first run of the tournament
- Top 3rd - Senior right fielder Justin Carinci (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering) also got to the Polar Bears' ace with an RBI single
- Top 3rd - Senior All-OAC first baseman Mally Kilbane (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) reached on a fielder's choice but was able to bring in Marousek in his first game in two weeks
- Top 4th - Sophomore second baseman Jace Druschel (Tampa, Fla./George Steinbrenner) tacked on an insurance run with a sac fly to right
- Top 7th - Kilbane got a run back with an RBI double down the line
- Top 7th - Junior All-OAC shortstop Sean Kolenich (Parma/St. Edward) put the Brown and Gold back up by five with a two-run single
At the Plate
- Kolenich led the way going 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base
- Kilbane also notched two RBI with one hit
- Carinci tallied two hits with one RBI, one run, and one steal
- Marousek scored a game-high two runs and had one RBI off two hits
- Sophomore designated hitter Colin West (Westborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) was the fourth Yellow Jacket with a multi-hit game
On the Mound
- Senior All-OAC right-hander Vince Dolcemaschio (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) saved the Jackets from going to their bullpen after a complete game effort in which he allowed only three runs on six hits while striking out two
