BEREA, Ohio – The No. 19 nationally ranked and top-seeded Baldwin Wallace University softball team defeated fourth-seeded Muskingum University in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament game by a final score of 6-2 on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Athletic Complex.
BW (30-2) advances to the winners bracket and will take on second-seed University of Mount Union on Friday, May 9 at 11 a.m. Muskingum (15-19) takes on third-seed Ohio Northern University in an elimination game on Friday at 1 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets scored six runs on nine hits as they plated one run in the second, three on the homerun by senior All-OAC catcher
Bridie Bricker (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) and one in the fifth and sixth innings. The Fighting Muskies scored two runs on five hits as they pushed both of their runs across the plate in the seventh.
At the Plate
- Sophomore left fielder Sam Peterkoski (Berea/Berea-Midpark) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and stolen base
- Senior Academic All-OAC center fielder Lexy Coggins (Vermillion/Firelands) went 2-for-3 with a run batted-in (RBI)
- Five other BW hitters had a base knock highlighted by the homerun and three RBIs by Bricker
In the Circle
- Senior All-OAC right hander Marisa Hall (Paris/East Canton) won her 18th game of the season as she allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
