BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team dropped its home opener against Kenyon College by a score of 2-0 at Tressel Field at George Finnie Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (0-1-1) could not capitalize on their opportunities which, came through a second-half yellow card and a handful of corner kicks. The Owls (2-0-0) intercepted a first-half throw-in to record their first goal with 20:40 to go until halftime. Another Owls goal was scored at 6:40 to pad the lead going into half, which was enough to propel them to victory.

BW Leaders

• Senior Academic All-OAC midfielder Sydni Mudge (Birch Run, Mich.) led the way with two shots for BW

• Mudge and junior midfielder Sophie Kirsten (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) each had one shot on goal

• Junior netminder Kelly Carver (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) had eight saves in the contest

Kenyon Leaders

• Sophomore Emily Coepland led the way with two goals for the Owls

• Defender Chanda Maambo and Zoe Lipp each recorded an assist 

• Coepland additionally led the way with three shots on goal for Kenyon

• The team took a total of 14 shots, besting the Yellow Jackets 14-5 in this battle

• 24:25 - Copeland got the Owls on the board with her goal at 20:40 following an assist by Chanda Maambo

• 38:19 - Copeland had her second goal of the contest to double their lead at 2-0 on an assist from Hannah Schmidt to conclude the half being up by two goals

Second Half (Kenyon 2-0)
No goals were scored in the second. The Brown and Gold's highlight was taking three shots in the second half of play.
