Today's Contest
Today is the fourth game of the 2025 season, the third Ohio Athletic Conference and second home game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it hosts No 2 nationally ranked and defending OAC Champion the University of Mount Union. BW remained unbeaten as it defeated Capital University by a final score of 44-7 last Saturday in Bexley. Mount Union was idle last week. In their last game on September 13, the Purple Raiders defeated Grove City (Pa.) College by 49-14 in Grove City.
 
The Series
BW and Mount Union have met 62 times on the gridiron.  The Purple Raiders lead the all-time series by a margin of 40-21-1, including winning the last 29 contests. The series began in 1896 as the Yellow Jackets posted a 10-0 victory in Alliance.  The last BW win came in 1994 when it knocked off Mount Union by a final score of 23-10 in Alliance.  The last Yellow Jacket victory in Berea was in 1991, which also was the last time the Purple Raiders lost an OAC road game as BW won by a final score of 21-18.
 
BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his ninth season at BW and has a record of 52-23 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 44-21. He is 119-42 in his 16th overall season. Hilvert is 0-7 all-time versus Mount Union.
 
Mount Union Head Coach Geoff Dartt
Dartt is in his sixth season at Mount Union and has a career record of 58-4 and an OAC record of  40-0.  He is 5-0 against Baldwin Wallace as the Yellow Jackets and Purple Raiders did not play in the COVID-19 shortened season of 2021 spring.
 
Last Game vs. Mount Union-- September 28, 2024
BW scored 14 points on 199 yards passing and 86 yards rushing for 285 total yards.  Mount Union scored 52 points on 195 yards passing and 135 yards rushing for 330 total yards.
 
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week two of the season, BW erupted for 63 points and 608 yards of total offense on 371 yards rushing and 277 yards passing. Wilmington scored 21 points on 302 yards passing and 247 yards rushing for 549 total yards.
 
BW Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) has completed 62-of-90 passes for 690 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. Bubonics ranks third in the conference in yards and passing efficiency while being ranked fourth in touchdowns. Sophomore running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) leads the ground game and is second in the OAC with 414 yards Linberger leads the league with five touchdowns and is fourth in carries with 52. Senior All-OAC wideout Tim Conwell (Avon) leads the aerial assault with 16 catches for 189 yards with two touchdowns. Defensively, junior Academic All-OAC linebacker Nolan Hartsel (Lodi/Northwestern) leads the team and is seventh in the OAC with 22 tackles.  Senior linebacker Devontae Jackson (Cleveland/John Hay) is tied for first in the conference with two interceptions, including one he returned for an 83-yard touchdown.
 
Scouting the Purple Raiders
In week two of the season, Mount Union scored 49 points on 305 yards passing and 193 yards rushing for 498 total yards.  Grove City scored 14 points on 144 yards rushing and 136 yards passing for 280 total yards.
 
Mount Union Leaders
Offensively, freshman quarterback Mikey Maloney has completed 40-of-55 passes for an OAC fourth best 612 yards with a league third best seven touchdowns. Senior All-OAC running back Darnell Williams has rushed for 179 yards on 26 carries with a conference third best tying three touchdowns. Senior All-OAC wide out Nick Turner has caught 17 passes for a league fifth best 233 yards with two touchdowns. Defensively, All-OAC linebacker Weston Arthur leads the squad with 12 stops.
 
League and National Leaders
BW continues to shine both in the OAC and on the national stage. The Yellow Jackets lead the OAC in five key categories: first downs, rushing defense, scoring defense, total defense, and third-down conversion percentage. On the Division III leaderboard, BW also stands among the nation's elite, ranking 7th in first downs, T-10th in scoring offense, 12th in total offense, 16th in rushing offense, 18th in time of possession, and T-20th in third-down conversion percentage.
 
FloCollege Division III Game of the Week
FloCollege has chosen the Ohio Athletic Conference showdown between BW and Mount Union as its Game of the Week, and it will be available to stream free of charge. The matchup was selected because it features the top two teams from the OAC preseason poll. Both enter the contest undefeated, with Mount Union ranked No. 2 in the latest D3football.com poll and BW receiving votes.

Bold & Gold and Hall of Fame Game
BW will host its Bold and Gold and Hall of Fame Game on October 25.  The 2:00 p.m. game against Marietta College will feature the Homecoming Festivities as well as the induction and introduction of the 2025 Class of the Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
