Men's Soccer Completes Undefeated Week After Another Second Half Comeback At Allegheny (PA.)

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team completed another come-from-behind victory, this time against Alleghany (Pa.) College, winning by a score of 4-2 at Frank B. Fuhrer Field to conclude a season-opening four-game road trip.

After scoring only one goal in the first half, BW (2-2) helped their cause by scoring three goals in the latter part of play, all at 63 minutes or later, including two in a two-minute period. For Allegheny (0-2-2), they drop this one in a similar way to how Geneva (Pa.) fell three nights ago in Beaver Falls to the Yellow Jackets.

BW Leaders (2-2)

  • Senior Academic All-OAC forward Mike Kane (Kent/Hudson), junior Cimi Halilaj (Westlake), sophomore Brayden Beggs (Columbus/Olentary Orange), and freshman Omar Alhaldi (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark) all led the Brown and Gold by scoring one goal

  • Alhaldi led the way with two assist for the Yellow Jackets, the only player from either team to have multiple assists in the contest

  • Junior Academic All-OAC midfielder Owen Reyes (North Olmstead), and freshman Thomas Getz (Hamburg, N.Y.) also had one assist each

  • Senior Academic All-OAC member Mathew Skladany (Cleveland/St. Edward) led the way with four shots taken

  • Reyes and Halilaj each took three shots to assist the offense

  • Halilaj, Skladany, Reyes and Kane all took two shots that were on the target of goal to lead the Brown and Gold in this respective category

  • Diego Teran (Exton, Pa./Henderson) was the goalie for the Yellow Jackets and made six saves throughout the effort

Allegheny Leaders (0-1-2)

  • Midfielder Cole Bowser and defender Aidan Dyga scored one goal for the Gators which were two of the game's first three goals

  • Junior Will Gruca had an assist for Allegheny

  • Gruca also led the way for Allegheny with four shots taken and three of them being on goal

First Half (Tied 1-1)

  • 6:31 - Allegheny got on the board first on a goal scored by Bowser, his second of the season

  • 34:28 - BW got on the board on a goal scored by Halilaj, his first of the season, assisted by Braden Lamb (Cleveland/Lutheran West, to tie the score at one after the first 45 minutes of play

Second Half (BW 4-2)

  • 57:25 - Junior defenseman Aidan Dyga gave the Gators the lead 2-1, scoring his first goal of the year, which was assisted by Gruca 

  • 63:56 - The Yellow Jackets came right back to tie the game at two with Alhaldi connecting on his first goal of the season, with Reyes coming in on the assist

  • 65:37 - Less than two minutes after they tied the game, Kane connected to give BW the lead, 3-2, with Getz and Alhaldi having assists 

  • 79:08 - Beggs scored an insurance goal to put the Jackets up 4-2 with less than 11 minutes to play in the contest

The Yellow Jackets make their way back to Berea for their home opener on Tuesday, September 9 where they will play host to Theil (Pa.) College at George Finnie Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. It will be streaming on FloCollege.
