BEREA, Ohio. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team defeated Muskingum University in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup, 80-66, inside Ursprung Gymnasium. After being a tie game at the break, the Yellow Jacket offense had a blistering 47 points to get their third win in OAC play.
BW Leaders (6-12, 3-6 OAC)
- Junior forward Isaac Richardson (Avon Lake) had a game-high 20 points, eight rebounds, and one steal
- Junior Academic All-OAC guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow-Munroe Falls) finished with 12 points and a game-high five assists
- Sophomore guard Brock Beech (Medina) hit a pair of three-pointers as he recorded nine points and four rebounds
- Junior guard Daiyaan Soloman (Cleveland/St Edward) provided a spark off the bench with eight points and six reboundsÂ
Muskingum Leaders (12-6, 4-5 OAC)Â
- Senior guard Duane Davis recorded a team-high 17 points and a game-high two stealsÂ
- Junior guard Owen Emig tallied 13 points, including a 5-5 performance at the charity stripe, to go along with two assists and a reboundÂ
- Sophomore guard Ceesay Alieu finished with 10 points, four rebounds, an assist, and a blockÂ
First Half (Tied at 33)Â Â
- Richardson started the scoring off with a pair of free throws in the opening minuteÂ
- The Yellow Jackets flew out of the gate with a 14-5 run in the first 6:40, highlighted by three Baskerville IV layupsÂ
- Beech nailed a basket from behind the arc to give BW a 27-15 lead with 5:23 leftÂ
- Musky capitalized on their opportunities down the stretch, outscoring the Brown and Gold, 18-6, going into the halfÂ
- The Yellow Jackets edged out Muskingum 13-11 in field goals madeÂ
- BW outrebounded the Muskies, 18-15Â
Second Half (BW 80-66)Â
- Davis started the scoring off with a layup during the opening possessionÂ
- BW was able to stack defensive stops during their 13-2 run that was capped off with an and-one from Junior Academic All-OAC forward Andrew Griffith (Akron/Archbishop Hoban), making the score 54-43Â
- The Yellow Jackets kept Muskingum from going on a run of their own, controlling the game for the final twelve minutesÂ
- BW continued their dominance on the glass, outrebounding the Fighting Muskies, 20-13Â
- The Brown and Gold found their stroke from behind the arc, hitting five threes, compared to only one from MuskingumÂ
