Men’s Indoor Track and Field Takes First Place at Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team, led by Head Coach Joe Eby, finished in first place out of five teams in the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

Track Event Highlights
  • Sophomore Ohio Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week Aidan Simmons (Frederick, Md. / Walkersville) finished in first place in the 55m dash prelims while setting a meet record of 6.48 seconds. In the finals, Simmons set a PR and beat his meet record with a time of 6.47 seconds.
  • Sophomore Nick Swartz (Marion / Pleasant) earned first place in the 5000m run with his winning time of 15:47.64.
  • Junior USTFCCCA All-Academic sprinter Wesley Noeth (Powell / Olentangy Liberty) finished the 200m dash in first place with his time of 23.08 seconds. This was one of his three top finishes with the other two coming in the relays.
Field Event Highlights
  • All-OAC senior shot putter Mason Kiesel (New London / South Central) claimed first place with a 15.14m (49' 8.25") put.
  • Junior sprinter/vaulter Connor Radojcsics (Mount Gilead / Northmor) set a meet record in the pole vault with his mark of 4.35m (14' 3.25").
  • Junior All-OAC jumper Amari Waddy (Fort Campbell, Ky.) earned first place in the high jump with his mark of 1.93m (6' 4"). 
  • Senior jumper Jason Freeman (Garfield Heights / Padua Franciscan) tied Waddy's high jump mark of 1.93m (6' 4") but finished in second place in a jumpoff. At the previous meet, Jason also tied Waddy for the best mark but won the jumpoff that time.
Relay Event Highlights
  • Noeth, Simmons, senior Rodney Washington Jr. (Warrensville Heights / Benedictine), and senior All-American Kaedan Faggs (Marion / Harding) set the meet record in the 4x200m relay with a time of 1:30.78.
  • Noeth, sophomore Christian Orgel (Sullivan / Black River), freshman Donavin Brown (Jamestown, N.Y. / Southwestern), and senior Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station / Columbia) took first place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:32.71.

  • Track and field will split their squad and travel to Ashland University and Oberlin College on Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7.
