Sweet Revenge as Women’s Volleyball Takes Down Ohio Northern

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team won an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup over the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears, the team that beat BW in the 2025 OAC tournament, by a score of 3-1 (25-15, 25-13, 21-25, 25-19) inside Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center as they improve to 15-4 and 2-1 in the OAC.

Game Recap

Set 1 (BW, 25-15): The Yellow Jackets stormed out of the gate with an 8-1 scoring run that included three kills by freshman middle hitter Morgan Petrecca. BW continued to apply pressure with 14 kills and a .275 hitting percentage while holding ONU to a .049 hitting percentage. The match kills leader, senior right side hitter Lexi Smith, had five kills to drive the offense.

Set 2 (BW, 25-13): The second verse was the same as the first for Ohio Northern. BW started on a 6-1 run and then didn't let ONU get within three points of their lead. ONU had more attack errors than kills as they hit for a -.029 hitting percentage. Smith piled on four more kills and junior setter Anna Stankard led the setters with five assists. BW had a match-best .290 hitting efficiency.

Set 3 (ONU, 25-21): There were 10 ties through a very competitive third set. Ohio Northern produced the best offensive performance of the match with 14 kills and only two errors for a .400 team hitting efficiency. BW had a match-high nine errors with a match-low .171 hitting percentage. Four of those errors were credited to the ONU defense that put up four blocks.

Set 4 (BW, 25-19): The Polar Bears threatened to steal the momentum of the match with an early 4-0 lead. BW tied the score at 5-5 to prove they wouldn't back down. Freshman defensive specialist Libby Hubert led a productive five-point scoring run to give BW their first lead at 17-16. The Yellow Jackets maintained this lead and the Polar Bears had several untimely errors the rest of the way out to drop the final set.
