Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Two Second Half Goals Power Men's Soccer Past Washington & Jefferson

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated Washington & Jefferson College by a final score of 2-0 on the turf of George Finnie Stadium to get back in the win column for the first time in four games.

After a scoreless first half, goals were scored in the 57th and 67th minutes of the second half by Nate Usrey and Jayden Williams, with Usrey's goal being assisted by Jacek Gomez and it was the only scoring that the Brown and Gold (7-3-4) needed to come out on top.

Game Recap
The game started off with both teams going scoreless over the first 45 minutes of play. In the opening frame, the Yellow Jackets took 13 shots and led the way in contrast to the Presidents' three. They also were able to take seven corner kicks during this time.

The second half was scoreless for the first 11 minutes as well. After this, the Yellow Jackets found the net on a goal scored by Usrey that was from the left side of the net, assisted by Gomez. It was his fourth goal of the season; he had one all last season.

After 10 minutes of taking one shot and two corners, Williams scored the first goal of his career that was unassisted. It gave the Yellow Jackets a commanding 2-0 lead and it remained this score for the rest of the way. As a team, BW took 23 shots while Washington & Jefferson only took five. Goalkeeper Diego Teran made three saves at net.

The Matchup
Tonight's contest against the Presidents was the first meeting between the two schools since at least 2008, with BW now holding a 1-0 edge. It is also the second season in a row where they stepped out of conference play this late into the season, when they battled Dayton on October 15 last year.

Looking Ahead
The Yellow Jackets host Wilmington College on Saturday, October 17 and are set to play Ohio Athletic Conference opponents the remainder of the season. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
