Women's Soccer Falls to Otterbein as Three-Game Non-Losing Streak Snapped

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team fell to Otterbein University on the field of Memorial Stadium by a final score of 1-0, dropping its first contest in their last four outings.

Both teams competed in what was a very tight and equal first half. The Yellow Jackets took five shots with two of them coming on goal. They had one corner kick, and goalkeeper Mackenzie Butcher saved three shots as both teams were scoreless in the opening 45 minutes of play.

The second half of play started off very similar to how the beginning did; both teams going back and forth in the shots battle. The game was scoreless until the 67th minute of play, when Otterbein connected on the first goal of the game which was scored from low center. They maintained this lead the rest of the way and they connected on an insurance goal in the 80th minute.

Down by two with two minutes to play, the Brown and Gold gave Otterbein a scare, with Mia Fortounis scoring a goal that was assisted by Ella James. The seniors took lead as they cut the deficit down to one, trailing 2-1. They only recorded a goal kick at the end as they ultimately lost the battle.  As a team, the Yellow Jackets took 14 shots and tallied five corner kicks.
