Nick Young's Legacy Honored as Men's Soccer Downs Heidelberg; Secures Home-Field Advantage in OAC Tournament

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated Heidelberg University by a final score of 3-1 on the turf of George Finnie Stadium as they honored the life and legacy of Nick Young '24 throughout the contest, a 2024 BW graduate and a three-year member of the team who appeared in 50 games.

Young passed away on October 13 after battling a rare cancer case of DSRCT Sarcoma at the age of 23. Players on the Brown and Gold wore yellow arm patches with pink text in honor of his legacy and in the fight against Sarcoma.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets clinched their second consecutive berth in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament. By doing so, they were led by senior midfielder Dominic Massaro, who scored three goals as the team secured its 10th victory of 2026.

After the second half started with neither team making any noise for the first seven minutes, Heidelberg scored a goal on a free kick foul to tie the game up at one. It remained this way for the next 20 minutes until Massaro started his scoring part two times over; his first goal was shot from the center part of the net, which was unassisted. His second goal was scored 11 minutes later with Nate Usrey coming in on the assist.
