Jamieson's Two Goals Lead Men's Soccer to Comeback Draw with Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team competed in a draw with the University of Mount Union by a final score of 3-3 on the turf of George Finnie Stadium for their second consecutive tie to open up the conference schedule.

In a contest that was back and forth throughout, freshman forward Randy Jamieson scored two goals within four minutes of each other in about the strangest ways possible: one being a head knocker that bounced twice, and the other taking a shot that was saved before gently knocking it in on a rebound. The goals were his second and third of the season and it kept the Yellow Jackets (6-2-4) out of the loss column for the seventh consecutive game.

Game Recap
The Yellow Jackets started things off on a good note, with Nathan Gray scoring his second goal of the season two and a half minutes in. Randy Jamieson came in on the assist and the game went into a lightning delay after some strikes were in the area, which lasted for one hour and 15 minutes.

Coming out of the delay, the Yellow Jackets finished the half with three shots and the Purple Raiders got on the board just before the break, at the 42:40 mark as the teams went into the locker room tied at one.

Continuing on, the second half started off with Mount Union connecting to make it a 2-1 game. Eight minutes later, they scored another goal of their own to give themselves a comfortable two-goal lead. While BW had numerous chances the next 13 minutes, Jamieson connected first on a head knocker to make it a one-goal deficit. Three minutes later, he connected on another goal where he first took a shot that was saved before he was able to gently rebound and kick it in to tie things up at three.

For the remainder of the contest, the Yellow Jackets took three shots and had two other chances where they did not capitalize. With five chances to take the lead, they fell short of a victory but still salvaged the draw. For the contest, the team took 14 shots and had four corner kicks.

Tonight's battle was the 20th meeting between the two schools since 2008. BW holds a record of 7-8-5 in these games.
