No. 12 Men’s Volleyball Earns Dominant Win Over Spalding (Ky.)

BEREA, Ohio -  The No. 12 Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team swept Spalding (Ky.) by scores of 25-15, 25-22, and 25-17 in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center.

BW (13-4, 2-0 MCVL) won in a three-set thriller. The Brown and Gold hit .432 as a team, while the Golden Eagles hit .211. BW had to come back in the third set from a 4-1 deficit, which featured one lead change, along with four ties. 

BW Leaders
  • Junior First-Team All-MCVL outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville/Westerville Central) tallied a team-high 10 kills and also contributed five digs
  • Senior Second-Team All-MCVL middle hitter Colby Whiteside (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) tallied eight kills and a team-high three service aces 
  • Senior middle hitter Josh Steinitz (Towson, Md./ Friends School of Baltimore) finished with a team-high four block assists while adding eight kills and two digs
  • First-year setter Ethan Gundrum (Cincinnati/ McNicholas) had a match-high 36 assists while contributing three digs and two block assists 

Spalding (Ky.) Leaders
  • Max Atherton led the Golden Eagles with a team-high 10 kills while also adding two digs 
  • Tye-Anthony Curtis finished with a team-high four block assists while adding nine kills and three digs
  • Brayden Overberg distributed a team-high 22 assists while also contributing four kills and four digs
