PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team defeated DeSales (Pa.) University by a score of 14-4 at Centennial Park to win their fifth consecutive game and conclude their spring break trip in Florida.
For the fourth consecutive game, the offense was the story for the Yellow Jackets, with 16 hits and scoring 14 runs. The game marks their fourth consecutive game of scoring 11 or more runs, with it being the first time they've done this since April 15-23, 2022, when they scored 11 runs in four consecutive games as well.
Scoring Summary
Top 1st - Junior designated hitter Colin West (Westborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) opened up the scoring with an RBI single to the shortstop
Top 1st - Sophomore utility player Maddox Tarquinio (McKees Rock, Pa./Montour) had a single of his own to score two runs and give BW a 3-0 lead after the top half of the first
Top 2nd - West collected his second hit of the game, which was an RBI double to plate two runs
Top 2nd - Junior first baseman Ryan Gordon (Strongsville) had a ground ball to single to give BW its second consecutive three-run inning
Top 7th - Sophomore catcher Yuri Bellina (Medina/Padua Franciscan) had a double to put BW back up by three
Top 7th - West had another double, which scored two runs, and his fourth and fifth runs of the day
Top 7th - With the bases loaded, Tarquinio was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded to end a six-run inning for the Brown and Gold
Top 8th - Senior shortstop Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) tallied a double to score the 11th run of the game
Top 8th - Sean Kolenich (Parma/St Edward) had a sacrifice groundout to make it a 12-4 game
Top 9th - Junior Academic All-OAC infielder Carson Petrecca (Willowick/Eastlake North) hit a line drive double, which drove in two runs
At the Plate

West was the story of the offense going 5-for-6 and a home run away from the cycle, with two doubles, a triple, and two singles; he drove in five runs and came across the plate twice
