BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University sophomore women's track and field jumper/vaulter
Lucy McChesney (Greensburg, Pa./Salem) has been named the Yellow Jacket Women's Athlete of the Month for February 2026.
To be considered for the monthly honor, a male or female student-athlete must have been nominated for at least one Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) weekly award in his or her respective sport. From the pool of nominees, members of the Athletic Communications staff, together with student assistants from the department's social media team, select the monthly winner.
McChesney had an outstanding month of February, which started with breaking the indoor pole vault school record with a 3.55m (11' 7.75") clear at the Dan Kinsey Invitational at Oberlin. She broke her previous record, which she set earlier this season, of 3.35m (10' 11.75"). At the All-Ohio Indoor Championships the week after Oberlin, she set another school record pole vault of 3.57m (11' 8.5") to be named Indoor All-Ohio with a second-place finish. Her month concluded with a long jump personal record of 5.22m (17' 1.5") at the OAC Indoor Championships. February consisted of three consecutive weeks where she was recognized as the Women's Yellow Jacket of the Week.
McChesney and the Yellow Jackets took fourth place out of nine teams at the OAC Indoor Championships with 18 total Yellow Jackets earning All-OAC honors.
