Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Closes Out Two-Day Season Opener at Bob Kahn Invitational

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team finished the two-day outdoor season opener at the Bob Kahn Invitational at Oberlin College on the Kahn Track & Shults Field.

Track Event Highlights

Senior All-Ohio sprinter Jessica Klonowski (Parma/Holy Name) won the 100m dash with a time of 12.83 seconds to start the season.
Senior distance runner Megan Hughes (Oregon/Clay) earned a first-place finish in the 800m run with her time of 2:27.26.
First-year distance runner Gabby Vennetti (Boardman) won her first collegiate 3000m steeplechase race with a time of 12:18.54.

Field Event Highlights

Sophomore All-Ohio thrower Janelle Rominger (Cambridge) threw an impressive hammer throw of 47.35m (155' 4") to win the event. This was less than four feet shy of her PR, and she was 16 feet further than the runner-up.
Junior dual-sport student-athlete Lexi Smith (Tiffin/Columbian) won the javelin throw with a 33.59m (110' 2") throw.
Sophomore All-OAC jumper/vaulter Peyton Putnam (Shelby) earned first place in the pole vault with her 3.58m (11' 9") vault.
Junior All-OAC jumper Rylee Gorrell (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area) started the season hot with a 1.61m (5' 3.5") high jump to win the event. Her season debut mark is only .03m shy of her PR.

Relay Event Highlights

Hughes, sophomore All-OAC sprinter/hurdler Kenae Moore (Cypress, Texas/Bridgeland), first-year distance runner Jillian White (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory), and senior USTFCCCA All-Academic distance runner Katie Plecko (Rootstown) took second place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:18.47.

Women's outdoor track and field will travel to Slippery Rock, Pa. to compete in the Dave Labor Alumni Invitational on Saturday, April 4 on the William C. Lennox Track at Slippery Rock University.
