BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team, led by Head Coach
Joe Eby, earned first place out of 17 teams in the 56
th Sparky Adams Invitational on the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds and inside George Finnie Stadium. The Yellow Jackets scored 129.5 points, which was 38.5 more than the runner-up.
Track Event Highlights
- Junior All-Ohio hurdler Samuel Skor (Columbia Station/Columbia) took first place in the 110m hurdles with a personal record time of 14.95 seconds. He is only .58 seconds shy of the school record. His time is also fourth in the conference and 10th in the region.
- Junior All-Ohio sprinter Joe Blahovec (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) won the 200m dash with a PR time of 22.29 seconds.
Field Event Highlights
- Junior All-American thrower Kitar Olsen (Whitefish, Mont.) earned a personal record in the discus throw with a 45.84m (150' 4") throw. His throw is second in the OAC and 12th in the Great Lakes Region.
- Senior All-Ohio thrower Mason Kiesel (New London/South Central) finished in second place with a PR shot put of 16.39m (53' 9.25"). This put is less than three feet shy of the school record, best in the conference, and fourth in the region.
- Freshman thrower Daniel Maiorino (Columbia Station/Columbia) earned a javelin throw PR with his third-place finish of 45.99m (150' 10") that is also seventh in the OAC.
- Olsen won the hammer throw with a conference-best 57.66m (189' 2") throw. His mark is third in the region and 13th in the nation.
- Senior thrower Brennan Beil (Canfield) finished in fourth in the hammer throw with a 52.31m (171' 7") throw. He beat his previous career-best throw by more than nine feet. His throw is now fourth in the conference.
Relay Event Highlights
- Freshman sprinter Rico Thompson Jr. (Cincinnati/Winton Woods), sophomore All-Ohio distance runner Will Prato (Massillon/Jackson), Skor, and sophomore distance runner Christian Orgel (Sullivan/Black River) earned a season-best 4x400m relay time of 3:24.78.
