Baseball Set to Play in Elimination Game After Falling to East Texas Baptist University

EASTLAKE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team fell to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers by a final score of 7-6 at Classic Auto Group Park in the second game of the NCAA Division III College World Series. 

 
The team was led by senior third baseman Sean Kolenich (Parma/St.Edward) who had his second straight game with a home run, and Senior shortstop Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) who reached base in all four of his plate appearances, with three singles and a walk.

 
The Yellow Jackets will now play in an elimination game tomorrow and look to keep their 2026 season and tournament run alive.

 
Scoring Summary 

  • Bottom 2nd – Playing from behind for the second consecutive day, Junior second baseman Carson Petrecca (Willowick/Eastlake North) scored the first run of the game for the Yellow Jackets on a wild pitch to tie the game at one 
  • Bottom 3rd – Senior OAC Player of the Year Dennis Ritlinger-Nirider (Grove City) had an RBI single into right center field which chased the ETBU starting pitching after just 2 ? innings of work
  • Bottom 3rd – Sophomore left fielder Mario Escano (Broadview Heights/North Royalton) walked with the bases loaded to give BW a 3-1 lead after three
  • Bottom 4th – Kolenich hit a two-run homer to make it a 5-1 brown and gold lead, his second home run of the World Series
  • Bottom 9th – Sophomore first baseman Matt DelDuca (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) doubled to score one run off of the closer to make the score 7-6, with ETBU leading after giving up six runs to lose the lead

 
At the Plate

  • Kolenich reached base safely three times throughout the day, going 2-for-3 with a single, a home run and a walk
  • Ritlinger-Nirider was 2-for-4 which included an RBI single to give the Brown and Gold their first run of the day, and a walk to collect his second multi-hit game of the NCAA Tournament
  • Senior shortstop Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored two runs
  • DelDuca was 1-for-4 with a walk with his RBI double making it a one-run game while the Yellow Jackets were down to their final two outs 

 
On the Mound

  • Junior right-hander Matt Moscarino (Strongsville/Padua Franciscan) took the ball for the Yellow Jackets, going eight innings and struck out eight batters while issuing only two walks
