WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace quarterback Charlie Bubonics has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Offensive Player of the Week for the week of September 14th. This is the first time this season that a BW football student-athlete has received this honor, and the third of Bubonics' career.

Bubonics was nearly flawless through the air, completing 19-of-25 passes for 313 yards and five touchdowns in the victory. His 76.0% completion percentage and 247.2 quarterback rating highlighted an efficient afternoon for the Yellow Jacket signal caller, who averaged 16.5 yards per completion.

Bubonics connected with multiple Yellow Jacket receivers throughout the contest, helping Baldwin Wallace build an early lead and continue its offensive momentum throughout the afternoon. He accounted for five of BW's 11 offensive touchdowns and played a key role in an offensive performance that produced 648 total yards.

The Yellow Jackets' 84 points marked the second-highest single-game point total in program history and the most since 1923, while the 648 yards of total offense tied for the second-most in program history in the modern era. Bubonics' five-touchdown passing performance was the centerpiece of the offensive outburst, as BW opened the season with an 84-26 victory over Bethany.

With the performance, Bubonics helped Baldwin Wallace open the season 1-0 and establish itself as the highest-scoring team in Division III through the opening week of the 2026 season. The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, September 19th at home for the 48th Lee Tressel Shrine Classic against Alma College. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
