DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team suffered a loss to Ohio Wesleyan University by a score of 0-3 (16-25, 12-25, 22-25) inside Branch Rickey Arena to slip to 13-3 on the season.
Game Recap
Set 1 (OWU, 25-16): The Yellow Jackets could not find their footing offensively to begin the match. They started in a 0-5 deficit and took an early timeout. The steady hand of junior outside hitter
Lyla Nash brought the Yellow Jackets back, cutting the deficit to 7-9 and leading OWU to take a timeout. The 13 attack errors and two service errors plagued the Yellow Jackets as they never found the lead and dropped the first set.
Set 2 (OWU, 25-12): BW again took the first timeout with a five-point deficit of 5-10 when they struggled to establish offensive rhythm. Their eight kills were offset by eight attack errors, and the Yellow Jackets could not find the right personnel combinations to get the job done.
Set 3 (OWU, 25-22): The final set was highlighted by some savvy serving by freshman defensive specialist
Libby Hubert and sophomore defensive specialist
Katrina Kassner who each had two service aces. Kassner's two consecutive aces tied the set at 21-21, which was the first time BW tied the score at any point of the match. After tying the score again at 22-22, the Battling Bishops scored three straight to give the Yellow Jackets their first straight-set loss of the year.
The Matchup
