Men's Soccer Tops Oberlin for Fourth Consecutive Win, Third Consecutive Shutout

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated the Oberlin College Yoemets by a final score of 2-0 on the turf of George Finnie Stadium to pick up their fourth consecutive victory, an accomplishment the team has not done in four seasons. 
 
The contest also marks their third consecutive shutout, something they haven't achieved since 2019. Sean Brouillard and Braden Lamb scored goals for the Yellow Jackets which both came in the second half to secure the victory and improve to 6-2-2.
 
Game Recap
Most of the opening half saw no goals scored. The team took just one shot in the first 40 minutes of play. The Brown and Gold finished the first 45 minutes of play by taking four shots in the final five minutes to play from in front. Lamb connected on his fourth goal of the 2026 season. The Yellow Jackets led the way in the shots taken total category, 5-4.
 
Similar to how the first half got started, the second half saw the Yellow Jackets hold on to their 1-0 lead. They connected for the second time at the 75th minute of competition to extend their lead to two, with Sean Brouillard scoring his third of the season. Lamb came in on the assist, his first career game of having a goal and an assist in the same game. The Brown and Gold held Oberlin to eight shots the entire game.
 
Goalkeeper Diego Teran was once again excellent at net. He made four saves and has been the goalkeeper in all three of the Yellow Jackets' shutouts. As a team, the Yellow Jackets took 11 shots, with five of them coming on goal and had one corner throughout the night as the team is now one win away from equaling last season's wins total of seven.
 
The Matchup
The game was the 16th time since 2008 that BW and Oberlin have played each other head-to-head. The Yellow Jackets have the advantage in these games, 8-6-1.
 
Looking Ahead
The Yellow Jackets take the field next for their Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Saturday, October 3 where they will square off against Capital University. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
