BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team dropped a decisive 1-0 matchup against the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes at the George Finnie Stadium. The game was tied for the first 85 minutes of play, but the Yellow Jackets' opposition scored a goal on the left side of the field to hand the Brown and Gold their first loss of the 2026 season.

Despite the Lutes outnumbering the Yellow Jackets in nearly every major category, the game was scoreless in the first half. BW took 10 shots while the Lutes took four. Goalkeeper
Mackenzie Butcher made four total saves in the opening half to keep things tied heading into the break.
The majority of the second half was a similar story as the first half was. The Lutes took 10 shots while the Yellow Jackets took four. Scoring in the 85th minute of play, Liv Olson gave PLU the lead and it ultimately was good enough for the Lutes to come through.
Kalyn Rich led the team by taking 11 shots as BW ended its only instance this 2026 season of playing on consecutive days.
The Matchup
The match was the first meeting between the Yellow Jackets and the Lutes since at least 2008. Pacific Lutheran now holds a 1-0 advantage in those games.
Looking Ahead
The Yellow Jackets are back on the pitch Wednesday, September 9, where they will host the Spartans of Case Western Reserve University in a cross-town matchup. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
